Who We Are

Advent Lutheran Church is a mission congregation of the North American Lutheran Church (NALC).  We are committed to the core values of the NALC: Christ centered, mission driven, traditionally grounded, and congregationally focused.  The congregation was organized in November 2010, with 103 charter members and 6 associate members.

During the period of the Reformation in the 1500’s, Martin Luther and other theologians described the basic Christian beliefs as sola scriptura, sola sola fide, sola gratia—scripture alone, faith alone and grace alone.  Sola scriptura is the teaching that the Bible is the only inspired and authoritative word of God, is the only source for Christian doctrine, and is accessible to all…Sola fide is the teaching that justification  is received by faith only, without any mixture of or need for good works, though in classical Protestant theology, saving faith is always evidenced, but not determined, by good works…Sola gratia is the teaching that salvation comes by divine grace or ‘unmerited favor’ only, not as something merited by the sinner. This means that salvation is an unearned gift from God for Jesus' sake.”

                       (quotation from Wikipedia)

We take seriously the mission given to us by Jesus Christ: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.
